MICRO-ROOT OF FLOWERING PLANT
The student can visualise the root as being constructed of three concentric cylinders - the central cylinder, the cortex and the epidermis. A young root tip is shown in successive shots so that one can see the zones of growth, etc. The set consists of: Buttercup root - x.s. stained (40x); Central cylinder - x.s. stained (220x); Epidermis & cortex - x.s. stained (75x); Root cap & zone of growth - l.s. stained (34x); Zone of elongation - l.s. stained (34x); Zone of maturation - l.s. stained (45x); Root tip - root hairs - whole mount stained (20x).
